Classes begin for Tulsa Public Schools on Thursday. All TPS teachers met Tuesday for the annual convocation.

At Booker T. Washington High School, they heard from Superintendent Keith Ballard about his expectations for the coming year.

Ballard says, despite financial struggles and the challenges with the A-F grading scale, he anticipates a great school year ahead.

The district still has 63 open teacher positions, of which 39 are for elementary schools. The rest are for secondary schools.
