Wednesday Morning Update

It appears we should be dry for the day.  A rarity for this past few days, but I will keep a slight mention of an isolated shower in the forecast today.  Another system will be diving down the central plains Thursday night into Friday, but the current trajectory may keep this to our west.  Highs will move back into the lower or mid-80s this afternoon with north winds this afternoon with some sunshine and a few clouds.  Slightly drier air will slide across the Missouri Valley and make an appearance across northeastern OK, southeastern Kansas, northwestern Arkansas, and southwestern Missouri this evening.  This air mass will allow our overnight and early morning readings to drop in the lower 60s and upper 50s Thursday through Saturday.  Super great!

The surface front is located to our south this morning and will remain near the Red River Valley for the day.  Some showers and storms are located across north TX this morning and will move remain to our south.  The upper air flow remains from the northwest to the southeast and this may allow for another disturbance to approach the central plains Thursday night into Friday.  Operational models indicate more rain and storm activity will be likely across central Kansas during this period and some may slide into the northern part of the Oklahoma Thursday into Friday.  The trajectory of this system would more than likely stay northwest of our immediate area, but we'll keep a slight chance of showers and storms in the forecast for Friday. 

The weekend will feature morning lows in the lower to mid-60s and highs Saturday in the upper 80s Saturday and near 90 Sunday. 

Early next week we anticipate the temperatures to move closer to normal August weather, but the pattern would remain favorable for some additional showers or storms for the middle of next week.  The typical mid-level ridge of high pressure common for August will remain west of the state and triple digit weather is nowhere in sight for our area at this juncture in the forecast process.

The official high in Tulsa yesterday was 83 recorded at 12:42pm.  Our readings yesterday afternoon were in the 70s for most locations.

Precipitation for the year is 23.22 which is only -2.53 away from normal!  This is a major improvement compared to the past three years.
