A Tahlequah man died early Saturday when the motorcycle he was riding was struck by a car at an intersection on Highway 412 in Delaware County, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

The troopers report stated the motorcyclist, James Ferguson, 60, died en route to an Arkansas hospital. A passenger on the motorcycle, Raynetta Rodgers, 59, of Tulsa was flown by medical helicopter to a Tulsa hospital. She is listed in fair condition.

The OHP says the impact caused Rodgers to be thrown 69 feet from the point of impact.

Troopers said a 2006 Toyota Corolla headed north on a highway just west of Twin Oaks driven by Shalea Hilderbrand, 25, of Salina failed to stop at an intersection, striking the motorcycle.

Hilderbrand and two passengers in the car, also from Salina were not injured.

The report says Ferguson and Rodgers were not wearing helmets.

Hilderbrand was cited by the OHP for failure to stop for a stop sign.

The crash happened just after midnight.
