It wasn't pretty, but the Tulsa Drillers picked up a 2-0 win over Northwest Arkansas Friday night, snapping a four-game losing streak.
The Drillers were outhit by the Naturals, seven to five, and committed two errors, but managed to grab the victory thanks to a stellar performance from the pitching staff.
Four Tulsa pitchers gave up seven hits and distributed eight walks, but got the outs when it counted, stranding 11 NW Arkansas runners and causing the Naturals to go 0-for-9 with runners in scoring position.
Tim Gustafson worked six innings and struck out five while giving up five hits and four walks in picking up the victory. Cole White worked around a hit and a walk in the ninth for his sixth save.
The Drillers picked up their two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning. After a single from Delta Cleary and a sacrifice bunt by Cristhian Adames, Angelys Nina tripled to center to score Cleary from second. Dustin Garneau singled later in the inning to bring home Nina.
The two teams continue the four-game series Saturday night at ONEOK Field at 7:05 p.m.
