Construction Delays Expected On Tulsa's I-44 At 177th East Avenue

The Oklahoma Department of Transportation is spending nearly $16-million to widen the interstate from four to eight lanes and replace the bridges at 177th East Avenue, just east of the I-244 split.

Monday afternoon, Osage SkyNews6 flew over a new construction zone on I-44 just east of Tulsa.

The Oklahoma Department of Transportation is spending nearly $16-million to widen the interstate from four to eight lanes and replace the bridges at 177th East Avenue, just east of the I-244 split.

The project began Monday and has already caused big backups.

The project is related the widening of I-44 at 193rd East Avenue.

ODOT says the contractor says it will keep two lanes open during peak travel times, but you can expect delays if you're heading through the area overnight or on weekends.

The work is expected to be complete in late summer 2014.
