Roy Oswalt took a loss in his first start with the Tulsa Drillers against Midland last week, but would have none of that on Wednesday night.
The Drillers pounded out 16 hits while Oswalt pitched six innings of three-hit ball to key a 16-1 shellacking of the RockHounds on the road.
Oswalt gave up a single run and a walk while striking out six batters to pick up his first win in a Drillers uniform. Dan Houston pitched the final three innings for Tulsa.
Former Oklahoma Sooners pitcher Zach Neal was rocked by the Tulsa bats, giving up 11 runs and 13 hits in his six innings of work.
One night after getting beat by Midland, 10-1, the Drillers scored seven runs in the top of the first inning, sending 12 batters to the plate during the barrage.
The Drillers had plenty of opportunities to score runs and they took advantage of those opportunities, going 7-for-12 with runners in scoring position. Every Tulsa starter had at least one hit and five starters had at least two RBI, led by Jayson Langfels' five.
Kiel Rolin, Kent Matthes and Kyle Parker all homered for Tulsa, with Parker's of the two-run variety in the top of the eighth inning, when the Drillers put up five more runs.
The two teams are back in action Thursday night at 7 p.m.
