Veteran Firefighter Killed In Massive Dallas Condo Fire

Dallas firefighters have recovered the body of a comrade who reported by radio being trapped while battling a condominium complex blaze.

Dallas Fire-Rescue officials identified the victim of Monday's blaze as 51-year-old Stanley Wilson. Wilson had been a Dallas firefighter for 28 years.

A U.S. flag covered Wilson's body when it was removed from the rubble Monday morning. The firefighter's name wasn't immediately released.

Dallas Fire-Rescue spokesman Jason Evans says two firefighters were transported to a hospital with injuries not believed to be life-threatening. Two residents were treated for minor smoke inhalation.

Authorities are trying to determine what sparked the fire reported shortly before 3 a.m. Monday at a three-story complex in northeast Dallas. Most of the fire was out by dawn as firefighters searched the smoldering debris.

Wilson' body was located and removed about six hours after the fire started.

Officials say at least two dozen condo units were damaged. CBS affiliate KTVT in Dallas reports as many as 150 firefighters responded to the blaze.

The last Dallas Fire-Rescue member to be killed on the job was Lt. Todd Krodle, who fell through the roof of an Oak Cliff apartment building while battling flames in August 2011, KTVT reports.
