The Oral Roberts battled at No. 24 Mississippi State on Tuesday night, but came up short against the Bulldogs, 3-2.
ORU fell to 21-29 this season, while Mississippi State improved to 38-15 and 11-0 in mid-week games.
Taking the loss for the Golden Eagles was Gavin Glanz (1-4). The junior starter went 3.2 innings, allowed seven hits and three earned runs.
Tyler Boss continued his tear at the plate in the month of May, rattling off three singles to lead the Golden Eagles. Logan Domenico recorded two hits, while Kevin Cho and Jose Trevino each singled.
Boss improved his average to .417 since the first of May.
After allowing a run in the bottom of the first, the Golden Eagles took the lead in the top of the fourth with two runs on three hits and one Bulldog error.
Domenico, Trevino and Boss started the inning with consecutive singled and loaded the bases with no outs. Goro got the first ORU run in as he reached on an error by the MSU shortstop, plating Domenico.
Chris Williams followed Goro by grounding into a double play, but still got the job done as Trevino scored on the play.
The Bulldogs quickly answered in the bottom of the inning as C.T. Bradford singled and scored on a groundout and Sam Frost walked and scored on a single by Adam Frazier.
The Golden Eagles had multiple opportunities to regain the lead as they finished the contest with 10 runners left on base, including three in scoring position.
Earning the victory for the Bulldogs was Chad Girardo and Daryl Norris recorded his 14th save, setting a single season MSU record.
ORU closes the regular season on the road on Thursday night as they travel to Northwestern State for the first of a three-game set. First pitch for games one and two are schedule for 6:30 p.m. and game three will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
