Hundreds of Green Country students with dreams of becoming a musician got some help Monday. The boys and girls at East Central High School received $20,000 worth of band instruments.

They were donated by the "Mr. Holland's Opus" Foundation, which helps fund school music projects across the country.

Their teacher said this new batch of instruments is exactly what the Tulsa students needed.

"It will give them a sense of pride, because a shiny new instrument is really something in the hands of these students," said band teacher Lois Ahrend.

The school applied for the grant a year ago.
