High-Speed Police Chase Ends At Midtown Tulsa Home

A high speed chase ended in a Midtown Tulsa neighborhood Thursday.

Tulsa Police lined the streets of the neighborhood near East 24th Street and South Florence Avenue, after 36-year-old Loyde Eslinger led them on a wild chase.

Eslinger had a federal warrant for firearms, and officers attempted to stop him on the Broken Arrow Expressway.

"When the suspect exited on Harvard, he spun out and crashed, about 2700 South Harvard, and took off on foot," Sgt. Robert Rohloff said.

Eslinger ran into a nearby neighborhood and witnesses told police he kicked in the door of an older woman's home.

"They heard screaming from the living room and, looking in through the front door that had a glass panel, they were able to see an elderly woman forced down on the ground by the suspect," Rohloff said.

Police said Eslinger ran out the back door.

From overhead, SkyNews6 caught Eslinger lying on the ground. Officers said he was acting "unresponsive," but they don't suspect he was under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

"Our initial assessment on that is he's probably faking it to keep from going into jail, right now," Rohloff said.

Police explained they were able to stay hot on the suspect's trail, thanks to neighbors in the area.

"We had multiple citizens out here who were working in their yard - out in their yard, or heard the commotion, came out and actually saw him jumping fences, cutting through yards - and kept pointing to the officers, 'He was just here, he was just here,'" Rohloff said.

As for the woman who lives in the home Eslinger broke into, police say she was not seriously injured, but she recently had surgery, and was having a little bit of pain in her shoulder from being thrown to the ground.

"She was extremely scared," Rohloff said. "She thought that this individual was going to kill her when he broke into the house."

Eslinger was taken to the hospital. He will be booked into the Tulsa County jail on multiple complaints.
