Tulsa senior Lacey Middlebrooks was named C-USA Pitcher of the Week after pitching a no-hitter and posting a 0.00 ERA in earning two wins for the Golden Hurricane last week.
Middlebrooks, who is from Wake Village, Texas, pitched her first career no-hitter against Memphis in Tulsa's 8-0 Game 2 victory on Saturday. She struck out two batters and induced 17 ground ball outs in the brilliant performance. Sunday she started and tossed 6.0 innings, striking out nine batters with just one walk, and scattered four hits in Tulsa's 9-2 victory. In all, Middlebrooks struck out 11 batters, and allowed four hits, two unearned runs and four walks in 13.0 innings to lead the Hurricane in a 4-0 week.
This is the second C-USA weekly pitcher award for Middlebrooks this season, and fifth award of her career, which also includes three Hitter of the Week honors.
The 20th-ranked Golden Hurricane (23-5, 6-0 C-USA) takes a break from league play this weekend and travels to Las Vegas for the UNLV Rebel Classic. TU opens the tournament against Texas Tech at 4:30 p.m. Friday.
