A Green Country principal went above and beyond to encourage her students to read.

Principal Ronda Merrifield, of Roosevelt Elementary in Ponca City, promised to wear a red-tail boa constrictor around her neck if the students surpassed their "Read Across America" reading goal.

In just five evenings, the students logged 81,911 minutes of reading time.

So, Ciara and John Utech from "Call of the Wild Rescue" brought in the snake, named "Freedom," and several other reptiles for the students to check out Wednesday.
