The DOC says Hammick was reported missing early Thursday. Details of how he's believed to have escaped have not been released.

The Oklahoma Department of Corrections web site reports Hammick is serving a four-year sentence out of Cherokee County for possession of a controlled substance. He was set to be released in August 2014.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
