The Oklahoma Highway Patrol will join law enforcement officers in seven other states in a crackdown on drivers not using seat belts and child restraint seats on Friday, February 1, 2013.
The OHP and officers in California, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Missouri, Kansas and Illinois will focus on seat belt usage and child passenger safety laws for 24 hours.
The campaign began in 2010 and is called "Get Your `Clicks' on Route 66" -- the so-called Mother Road that once connected the states.
OHP Lt. Ben Crockett said in a news release that troopers want to remind people that using a seat belt is both smart and is required by state law.
