The cold front is located southeast of our area and we're back to the cold air today and a minor warming trend tomorrow. Early this morning (mainly pre-dawn) a few brief showers or even flurries may be possible across extreme NE OK and SE Kansas as the upper trough clears the region. This will be of little consequence. I'll probably not include this on the main 7 day planner.
Strong northwest surface winds from 20 to 25 mph will be common for the next few hours before the pressure gradient begins to relax by late afternoon. A low and mid-level cloud deck should be remaining this morning but decreasing later today with some a few sun breaks. High temps may top out around 42.
The rest of the forecast is fairly tame but will feature a fairly active upper air flow. This will bring several boundaries across the state over the next few days, but these intrusions will do little to change the overall "sensible weather" for our area. Temps will remain above normal for the Thursday and near normal Friday before warming into the lower or mid-60s Sunday into early next week.
The EURO runs for the past few days has hinted at some light showers Saturday across NE OK with a boundary and an upper level vort crossing the area, but we'll keep it out of the 7 day planner.
The extended data has also flirted with another upper level short wave nearing the region Monday, but at this point we'll not make any big changes to the forecast regarding precip chances.
Our rain and thunderstorms yesterday created a nice rain footprint across the area with some much needed precipitation. A few severe storms were noted, and we did have a couple of tornado warnings across extreme east central OK and western Arkansas, but no significant damage or injuries have been reported.
The official high in Tulsa yesterday was 71 recorded at 10:21AM.
The normal daily average is 50 and the low is 28.
Daily records include a high of 74 from 1931 and a low of -6 from 1949.
