Damen Bell-Holter's huge night helped lift Oral Roberts to a 64-52 win at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Thursday.
Bell-Holter scored 27 points on 8-9 shooting, while also hauling in 13 rebounds. His impressive 11-12 mark from the free-throw line helped his cause.
Shawn Glover helped Bell-Holter by scoring 12 points and snagging nine boards, while Warren Niles was cold from the field (3-11) but still chipped in 14 points to help the cause.
The Golden Eagles (9-8, 4-1) led by just two at the break, but outscored the Islanders (2-13, 1-4) by 10 in the second half to pull away.
ORU held the rebound advantage 33-25 and shot a better percentage from the floor, 43.9 percent to A&M-CC's 35.8 percent.
The Islanders were led by Will Nelson's 18 points. No other Islander reached double-figures.
"I thought we played really well in the second half until the final five or six minutes when we kind of put it on cruise control. In the first half we did a lot of good things, but we just couldn't make shots," said Coach Scott Sutton. "Warren had six of his best looks in a long time and just couldn't knock them down so instead of being up eight or 12 points we were up two. Damen was obviously tremendous all night."
Next up for the Golden Eagles is a trip to Sam Houston State on Saturday, Jan. 19.
