Haskell County Man Accused Of Slashing Woman's Throat

A Whitefield woman is in a Tulsa hospital after a man allegedly stabbed her and cut her throat from "ear to ear," according to court documents. 

Haskell County Sheriff Brian Hale says Jamie Bender, 18, also of Whitefield, is in jail charged with assault and battery with a deadly weapon.

Hale says deputies responded to a home in Whitefield on Friday, January 11th. They found the 20-year-old victim suffering from a number of stab wounds.

The victim was taken to a Stigler hospital and then flown by medical helicopter to a Tulsa hospital.

A deputy stated in court documents the wounds were the worst he had ever seen.

Family members said the victim told them Bender had stabbed her. He was located by deputies and arrested.

Court records state Bender asked deputies "Is she dead?" and "Did I kill her?"

Hale says the victim is expected to survive.
