Oral Roberts guard Warren Niles has been named the Southland Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week, the league office announced on Monday.
Niles averaged 19.3 points and 3.8 rebounds in the Golden Eagles four games last week. The senior from Cincinnati, Ohio, scored 26 points in a 69-67 win against Pacific and then poured in 33 in a 75-66 victory over Loyola Marymount in an opening-round game of the Great Alaska Shootout. That marked the second-highest scoring output of his career and earned him the Carrs/Safeway Player of the Game accolades.
Niles hit 11 of his 15 shots in that game and was perfect for the week on 14 free throws.
He scored in double figures in three of the four games and grabbed a season-high seven rounds against Charlotte while being named to the Great Alaska Shootout all-tournament team. In the four games, he shot 54 percent from the floor (27-of-50) and connected on 9-of-17 shots from beyond the 3-point line.
