FTC Approves Plan For Hertz Buyout Of Tulsa-Based Dollar Thrifty

Federal regulators have given the green light to Hertz's takeover of Tulsa's Dollar Thrifty car rental company, according to the Wall Street Journal.

The $2 billion deal was struck in August, but the government was investigating whether the merger broke anti-trust laws.

The deal could be complete by the end of the year.

We've not heard what the merger means for Tulsa's 780 Dollar Thrifty employees.

Tulsa Metro Chamber President and CEO Mike Neal issued a statement following the news:

"The Tulsa Metro Chamber welcomes Hertz as a new corporate partner in Tulsa and will aggressively work to ensure the company's integration plans result in positive protections for the Tulsa workforce. The company's recent successes and appeal to other rental car industry leaders is a direct result of the talented, highly productive and committed DTAG workforce."
