Expect mostly sunny conditions with highs in the lower to mid-50s today.  Gusty north winds will create a wind chill.  A freeze warning will be in effect for a large portion of northern OK late tonight into Saturday morning.

The cold front is now southeast of the state and the colder air has definitely moved across the entire state.  Readings this morning are 30 to 35 degrees colder compared to yesterday morning before the front entered the area.  A few showers and storms were located near the Red River Valley this morning but will quickly move away from far southeastern OK quickly this morning.  We have noted a few clouds moving southward from Kansas into northern OK this morning but we expect mostly sunny conditions for most of the area later today.  The pressure gradient will remain strong during the day with north to northeast winds in the 15 to 25 mph range.  Wind speeds will diminish later tonight but with dry air and clear sky, the temperatures will drop into the upper 20s by early Saturday morning.  The National Weather Service has issued a Freeze Warning for a large portion of the area.

The upper air pattern will keep the colder air across the area this weekend but the air mass will modify and be replaced by some warmer temperatures by the early to middle part of the week.

EURO and GFS data differ regarding a weak boundary, with the EURO suggesting a wind shift Thursday and the GFS bringing the wind shift across the area Wednesday.  NO precipitation is expected with either scenario.  The temps will be in the 60s Monday and Tuesday with readings Wednesday and Thursday moving in the upper 60s and lower 70s.

The pattern would support a storm system approaching the state by late next week.

Friday Night Football games will be played under clear sky and cold air.  Temps tonight for the games will start in the upper 40s and finish near 40 with light north winds.

TCU at OSU- Mainly sunny and cool at the 2:30pm start with temps near 53 finishing the game near 56 with northeast to east winds at 10 mph.

Notre Dame at OU- Clear and cold at 7pm with temperatures near 47 along with light northeast winds.  The temps will fall to near 40 by the 4th quarter.

Enjoy the great fall weather this weekend.
