The attorney for two youth pastors at Victory Christian Church is trying to get the misdemeanor charges against them dropped.
John and Charica Daugherty, are charged with failing to report suspected child abuse in a timely manner.
They were among five staff members at Victory Christian accused of violating the state law.
Prosecutors say they waited two weeks before telling police that two former Victory employees were accused of sexually assaulting teenage girls they met at Victory's summer camp.
Their attorney filed a motion Friday, which says the law only requires you to report abuse if it's committed by someone responsible for the safety and welfare of the victim. The attorney says since the two men who've been charged weren't responsible for the girls, there was no obligation to report it.
