Grant Helps Tulsa Community College To Acquire Flight Simulator

Tulsa Community College is using a $16,500 grant from the Oklahoma Aeronautics Commission to help it purchase a flight simulator.

Tulsa Community College is using a $16,500 grant from the Oklahoma Aeronautics Commission to help it purchase a flight simulator.

TCC says their grant is for the school's professional pilot, air traffic control and aviation management programs.

"Tulsa Community College has really ramped up their aviation program offerings over the last couple of years, which is good news for the state's aviation and aerospace industry," Director of Aeronautics Victor Bird said. "We need more programs like that if we are to get more young people interested in pursuing careers in aviation and aerospace."

TCC says the simulator, which will be located at Jones Riverside Airport will help their students understand cross-wind training techniques.

TCC says the cost of the simulator is $33,000, with the rest of the funding still yet to be identified.
