Final Tulsa American Airlines Layoff Numbers Set For Release Friday

We're expecting to learn final numbers of how many Tulsa workers could be laid off from American Airlines' maintenance base Friday morning.

The Transport workers Union says it has worked to reduce the layoffs at American by 80 percent. The union says just over 2,800 TWU-represented workers at American Airlines have elected the "early out" option, meaning those 2,800 workers will not be counted as being laid off.

The union says it anticipates the final layoff numbers to be just over 1,800. The TWU says that number includes fewer than 500 employees in the airline's mechanic and related work group, fewer than 100 stock clerks and just over 1,200 employees in the fleet service work group.

The union says it also saved more than 3,100 jobs in its negotiations with American.
