The Oral Roberts men's soccer team closed its trip to Colorado with a loss as the Golden Eagles fell to Denver 4-0 on Sunday.
With the loss, the Golden Eagles record drops to 1-6 on the season. On Saturday, the Golden Eagles return home for their Summit League opener at 7 p.m. at the Case Soccer Complex.
While the men hosted three exhibition contests at the beginning of the season, the match against Oakland will mark the first time the Golden Eagles take the pitch at home for a regular season contest.
The Golden Eagles were coming off their first victory of the season on Friday at Air Force, but the momentum didn't carry over as the Pioneers controlled the ball much of the contest. ORU wasn't able to get any quality looks at goal in the 90 minutes as they were outshot 29-7.
Cody Lofgren had three of the Golden Eagle shots, while Tyler Hill, Tom Adams, Gerardo Salas and Johnny Chavez each added one.
Splitting time in goal for the Golden Eagles was Isaac Sandoval and Ryan Grashik. Sandoval was called upon to start the match, playing just over 24 minutes, picking up a save and allowing the opening goal to the Pioneers in the 11th minute. Grashik entered the game in the 25th minute, knocking down five saves and allowing the final three goals.
Sandoval earns the loss, dropping him to 1-1 on the season.
