The Tulsa Drillers are picking the right time to play their best baseball of the season.
With a divisional series with Springfield looming beginning on Wednesday, the Drillers are taking this last series again Northwest Arkansas as a warm-up to that series.
Sunday night, the Drillers won their eighth straight game, downing the Naturals 3-1.
Brandon Hynick pitched seven shutout innings for the Drillers, picking up his seventh win of the year. Hynick scattered six hits while striking out six. Michael Solbach got the final out of the game for his second save of the year.
J.C. Sulbaran took the loss, despite giving up just a single run over seven innings.
The Drillers got on the board first in the top of the fifth inning with a solo home run from Lars Davis.
In the top of the eighth, Michael Mitchell extended the Drillers lead to 3-0 with a two-run triple. NW Arkansas added a run in the bottom of the ninth, and had two runners on base, but weren't able to manufacture anything else.
The series finale will be Monday in Springdale, Ark. at 1 p.m.
