The Tulsa men's soccer team dominated UMKC on Saturday night with the Golden Hurricane taking a 4-0 victory against the Kangaroos in its season opener.
"I thought our pressure was good as a group," TU coach Tom McIntosh said. "I think we established how we want to defend, and I think we created a lot of good chances. I thought we gave up a couple chances in the beginning of the second half, but once we got the first goal we stepped up our pressure and I was really pleased."
Jake Dobkins scored in the 68th minute while freshman defender Marcus Jordan picked up the assist. Nearly 10 minutes later, freshman Bryce Follensbee recorded his first career goal as he went one-on-one with the goalkeeper and scored from the right side.
Freshman Cristian Mata drilled in a goal from 45 yards out as he one-timed a clear by the goalkeeper for his first career goal at the 82:40 mark, and Follensbee scored again in the 87th minute with Bradley Bourgeois picking up the assist.
Senior Mark Pais logged all 90 minutes in goal, recorded one save and earned the shutout.
The Hurricane will return to action Aug. 31 against New Mexico beginning at 8 p.m. at the Hurricane Stadium.
