Brandon Hynick scattered nine hits over seven shutout innings as the Tulsa Drillers defeated the Arkansas Travelers, 3-1 at ONEOK Field Wednesday night.
The Drillers were outhit by the Travelers 11-6, but Arkansas was just 1-for-14 with runners in scoring position, and left 12 runners on base.
Hynick picked up the win for Tulsa, while Orangel Arenas took the loss for Arkansas, despite giving up just three hits to the Drillers. Josh Sullivan struck out the side in the top of the ninth with runners on first and third for his 16th save of the year.
The Travelers put a runner on in every single inning except for the third inning, but were not able to manufacture a run until the top of the ninth.
The Drillers struck first in the bottom of the fourth inning with a solo home run from Corey Dickerson. Tulsa added two more runs in the bottom of the sixth, on a Nolan Arenado sacrifice fly and an RBI single from Ben Paulsen.
Tulsa goes for its fifth consecutive win Thursday night at ONEOK Field, when they take on Arkansas at 7:05 p.m.
