Tulsa Fire Station Vandalized

A Tulsa fire station was vandalized overnight Friday in a call that first came into police as "shots fired."

It happened at 3:30 a.m. at the fire station near Archer and North Utica. When police arrived, they learned there had been no gunfire.

"It looks more like somebody took some type of object and just went up and started beating the windows out," said Tulsa Police Corporal Dan Miller.

Firefighters were present at the station when the vandalism took place. They were unable to find the culprits, Miller said.

Three Plexiglas window panels were broken out.

The station was taken off active duty temporarily so the building could be secured.

"Since these guys are out of commission, they're going to have to call somebody that's going to take a few more minutes to get over and take after stuff," Miller said.

After two officer-involved shooting incidents this week, the initial call of shots fired had the responders "ramped up," Miller said.

He said officers never knew when someone at a scene would be armed and ready to shoot them.
