Corpus Christi pounded out 18 hits en route to a 16-2 shellacking of the Tulsa Drillers Monday night.
The Hooks scored four runs in the opening frame, and then followed that with six more runs in the third inning to open up a 10-2 lead. Corpus Christi added four runs in the ninth for the final 16-2 margin.
The Drillers managed just two runs and five hits against Corpus Christi pitching. Hooks starter Jose Cisnero gave up just four hits and two runs in his five innings of work. The Driller runs came on a bases-loaded walk and a sacrifice fly.
Tulsa used six pitchers for the game, with none of them getting through more than two innings. The Hooks pounded the pitching for four home runs during the game.
Every Corpus Christi starter got a hit, expect for the pitcher, Cisnero.
The Drillers are back in action Tuesday, when they take on the Hooks in the series finale at 7:05 p.m. at ONEOK Field.
