A former Stroud kindergarten teacher and high school cheerleading coach has been charged with a sex crime after she was alleged to have had an inappropriate relationship with a 15-year-old girl.

Mandi Layne Guerrero, 34, turned herself in to authorities at the Lincoln County Jail Tuesday after a warrant was issued for her arrest. She is being charged with one count of lewd or indecent proposal or act to a child under 16.

Guerrero's bond was set at $5,000. She posted bond Tuesday and was ordered by the court to have no contact with the alleged victim, court records show.

The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation said in a Tuesday news release that its involvement began in April, at the request of the Stroud Police Department. The allegations stem from the time Guerrero was employed by Stroud Public Schools, the OSBI said.

The OSBI said it delivered "a comprehensive report to the Lincoln County District Attorney's Office," which resulted in the charge this week.

A Facebook page attributed to Guerrero states she taught in Stroud but lives in neighboring Drumright with her husband and four children.

Photo captions on the Facebook page indicate Guerrero was coaching during the 2011-2012 school year. It is not known whether the alleged victim was a member of the cheer team Guerrero coached.

The Stroud Public Schools superintendent could not be reached for comment Tuesday afternoon.

Guerrero is due back in court August 20, 2012.
