Former Tulsa city councilor Bill Christiansen is expected to announce he is running for Tulsa mayor at a news conference Tuesday morning.

Christiansen, who held the District 8 council seat for five terms, announced last year that he would not seek re-election to that seat.

Christiansen is the President of Christiansen Aviation at Jones Riverside Airport, a job he's had since 1972.

He's scheduled a news conference for 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 12, 2012 at Helmerich Park on Riverside Drive.

Mayor Dewey Bartlett's current term expires on the first Monday in December 2013.  Tulsans will pick a mayor in November 2013.

Candidates must file in April 2013 so that there will be time for primaries and run-offs if necessary, in accordance with the Charter amendment passed by the people in Fall 2011.
