Tulsa robbery detectives arrested a man today, known on the streets as "Tommy Two Guns."

His real name is John Akin and he had robbery warrants out of Poteau.

Detectives say he is also a suspect in some recent robberies in Tulsa.

Police say Akin ran from them Tuesday, and had a gun, which is illegal since he's an ex-convict.

Police say Akin looks to scare those he encounters, beginning with the "Tommy Two Guns" nickname.

"I don't know if that's one he gave himself or one he got on the street, who knows?" Tulsa Police Sgt. Brandon Watkins said. "If you gave yourself one, you'd probably give yourself one like that. That's a pretty cool nickname."

Police recently learned Akin was hiding under this house last Friday during a 6-hour standoff, which he escaped.

His record shows a long history of convictions going back almost two decades.

Akin last got out of prison in January.
