Ashlei King is a military brat who was born in Italy, but spent most of her life in Schertz, a suburb of San Antonio, Texas. She is also a proud graduate of the University of Texas (UT).

Before joining the News On 6 team in February 2012, she worked for KTXS in Abilene, Texas. While at KTXS, King served as the education reporter. During her time in Abilene, she won a Texas Associated Press Award for deadline editing. After 13 months in Abilene, she packed her bags and headed north to Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Although King graduated from UT, she is no stranger to Oklahoma. Her parents were both born and raised in Lawton and her brother was born at Fort Sill. She has a grandmother who still lives in Lawton and many family members who live in Oklahoma City.

King's career kicked off in Austin, where she served as the CBS-affiliate's UT Reporter. She was also the Assistant News Director for Texas Student Television's KVR News.

During her freshman year at UT, King was a member of the co-ed cheerleading squad. She cheered for the Texas Longhorns Football team and Men's Basketball team. She also ran hurdles for two years on the UT Track & Field team.

King is definitely a homebody and loves going home to visit her parents, brother and dog back in Schertz. In her spare time, you can find her catching up on her favorite soap opera "General Hospital" and mourning the loss of her second favorite soap, "One Life to Live."

King has always dreamed of being a reporter and couldn't be happier to be furthering her career in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Don't forget to connect with her on Facebook and Twitter.
