Tulsa police are investigating a home invasion that left two people shot around 7:30 p.m. Saturday in north Tulsa.

Officers said two men forced their way into a home in the 2200 block of East Haskell Street and tried to rob a family. Police believe a language barrier may have caused tensions to rise, because the Hispanic victims may have not been able to understand the demands.

After the situation escalated, the intruders then shot a man in the back and a woman in the leg.

According to EMSA, the male victim was taken to a Tulsa hospital in critical condition, and the woman is in serious condition.

There were children in the home at the time of the robbery attempt, but they were not hurt.

Detectives said after shooting the couple, the intruders left without taking anything and sped off in a silver four-door sedan. The only other descriptors police said they have of the intruders is that they are black men.

Anyone who may have information about the crime is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 918-596-COPS.
