Tulsa city leaders are reaching out to teens and young adults on the city's north side.

Mayor Bartlett brought Tulsa's Fire Chief and Chief of Police along with him to the Tulsa Dream Center Tuesday, to encourage teenagers about careers in firefighting and law enforcement.

"They get a chance to see these people that's in authority - especially the police officers - in a position that it's not necessarily where they're actually coming after them," Pastor Timothy Newton said.

"They're actually saying, 'hey, you know I want to talk to you, you know I wanna just tell you about what I do and what my position. Hey, this is something you can be a part of.'"

The mayor also promoted his "Bridge of Faith" program, encouraging Tulsa churches to provide positive summertime activities for children.
