The Tulsa Drillers continued to struggle Monday, dropping the final game of their road trip 4-0 at the hands of the Springfield Cardinals, dropping them to a 1-7 over their last eight games.
Springfield starter Seth Maness (1-0) kept the Drillers' offense in check, allowing just five hits and striking out eight batters in 7.2 innings of service. Edwar Cabrera (4-4) struggled, giving up three earned runs on six hits in six innings of service.
The Cardinals started off the scoring the bottom of the fourth, thanks to a Jeff Shaffer line drive single to center field, scoring Jermaine Curtis, taking a 1-0 lead.
The scoring continued in the bottom of the sixth, with runners on first and second, Xavier Scruggs doubled to left field, bringing Kyle Conley home to take a two-run advantage. Three batters later, Seth Maness sent a sacrifice fly to right field, bringing Jeff Shaffer home to make it 3-0.
Kyle Conley knocked a solo home run in the bottom of the seventh to make it a four-run lead with just two innings to play.
Tulsa will take a day off Tuesday to return home, before taking on the Frisco Rough Riders at 7:05 p.m. Wednesday.
