Neighbors learned Thursday night about a natural gas company's plans to begin fracking beneath the prairies of Osage County.

Canadian-based EnCana plans to start drilling in a few weeks, and invited neighbors to learn more about the fracking process.

Some are concerned about potential groundwater contamination, but the company insists it always takes the environment into consideration.

"EnCana prides itself on its environmental health and safety and our responsibility to both the residents and to the land that we're on," EnCana Spokesperson Jerri Akers said.

"More drilling the better off we're going to be," Osage County resident Fred Dunn said. "We need more oil around here. The more oil we get here the less we get overseas, and that's good for the economy."

Osage County is home to the largest remaining swath of tall-grass prairie left in the world.
