Many of Tulsa's bravest were honored Saturday for giving their lives in the line of duty.
The 16th annual Tulsa Police Memorial Service was held this morning for the 39 Tulsa officers who've been killed since 1917.
The Memorial park features a wall of memory, which lists all the fallen officer's names in granite. In front of the wall stands a stature of a Tulsa police officer, handing a folded flag to the child of a fallen officer.
"It gives us a place to gather when something happens," Tulsa officer Gerard Stege said. "We have a place that if a tragedy were to occur, we'd have a place for everyone to gather and share their thoughts and share their memories."
Tulsa's memorial is one of the largest in the country, second only to the National Police Memorial in Washington DC.
