Two Tulsa universities will be holding their commencement ceremonies on Saturday, May 5, 2012.

The University of Tulsa ceremony will take place at the Donald Reynolds Center on the TU campus and Oral Roberts University will hold its ceremony at the Mabee Center.

TU says 774 graduates are expected to participate Saturday.

This year's speaker is Roz Savage who has completed solo rows across the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans in 2006 and 2010 respectively.

In 2010 she was named Adventurer of the Year by National Geographic.

At ORU, senior Laura Egstad will be ORU's 25,000th graduate.

"I am truly honored to be considered the 25,000th student to graduate from ORU," she said. "I take pride in the fact that I am a student at ORU and have cultivated a deep understanding of the value of ORU's emphasis: being a "whole person" - sound in spirit, mind, and body."

Egstad is a third-generation ORU student. Her grandfather, Dr. William Jernigan, is the dean of Learning Resources and her parents both attended ORU.

This year's ORU commencement speaker is Ralph Winter, Hollywood movie producer. He has produced the "X-Men" trilogy, Tim Burton's "Planet of the Apes", "Fantastic Four" and "Wolverine" movies.

Saturday is TU's 129th commencement ceremony and at ORU, it's their 45th commencement.
