Recent Rains A Blessing For Parched Pawnee County Rural Water District

For customers serviced by Pawnee County Rural Water District No. 2, the rainfall over the past couple of weeks has been a blessing.

The drought, which hit Oklahoma last year and continued until recently, was drying up the district's supply of water.

Now, officials say, levels at Lone Chimney Lake in Pawnee County are getting back to normal.

Jon Harrod with Rural Water District No. 2 says the rainfall has allowed the district to lift conservation restrictions.

The district serves 16,000 customers in four counties, and with the drought Harrod says the cost of water for those customers had gone up dramatically.

He says the rates have now returned to normal and customers will see that reflected on their May bills.
