Tulsa Public Schools announced Tuesday that former interim Gil Cloud will drop the interim tag and become the school's full-time athletic director, through the end of the 2012-2013 school years and perhaps beyond.
"Gil has been a stabilizing force in the department, and our preference is to continue moving forward in the direction he is taking us," said Kevin Burr, associate superintendent of secondary schools in a press release. "He is squarely focused on the well-being of students, and how athletics can create an environment for student growth and development."
Cloud has served as the director of athletics for three schools on the collegiate level, at Northeastern State University, Upper Iowa University and Arkansas Tech University. He has also spent time working at the high school level at both Union Public and Guthrie Public Schools, as well as coaching at Kansas State University, Cameron University and McAlester High School.
"I am pleased and excited to continue to assist Tulsa Public Schools as Director of Secondary Schools Athletics and Activities. We have good coaches and student athletes and now we must move forward to make their educational and athletics experience the best it can be," Gil said in a press release. "We have many opportunities to undertake, and with our community, schools and administrative support we can make a positive impact in our students' lives."
