A Welch woman suffered minor injuries after a tornado lifted the roof off her home early Tuesday morning.

Morris Bluejacket with Craig County Emergency Management said Rhonda Charles went to close her bedroom window when the roof came off her house at around 1:30 a.m.  That wind blew her across the room.

Her husband, Dale Charles says he was on his way home from work early Tuesday when he saw the roof of his house being blown across the road along with his barn.  Terrified, Dale rushed to the house and found his wife, Rhonda alive.

Bluejacket said Rhonda was treated at the scene for some minor scrapes and bruises.

Dale Charles says he had five horses in the barn and some were cut up.  All five are at a vet in Vinita where they are being treated.

The National Weather Service confirms it was a tornado that caused the damage in Craig County early Tuesday.  The NWS rated the tornado as an EF-1.  Under this category, winds were 86–110 mph.
