A Henryetta juvenile is recovering in a Tulsa hospital after she was run over by a car in the Okmulgee County community Monday afternoon.
Henryetta Police Chief Steve Norman says the 6-year-old girl along with two boys, 6 and 9-years-old were left in a car unattended in the 500 block of North 10th Street.
Norman says the girl was pretending she was driving and moved the car's gear shift lever. He says the keys were in the ignition, but the car was not running.
As the car rolled forward, the two boys jumped out safely.
When the girl attempted to jump, she got hung up, and the car ran over her torso.
Norman says the girl was flown by medical helicopter to a Tulsa hospital and placed in the intensive care unit. He says the girl was released from ICU Tuesday morning.
Norman says the girl was "very lucky." He says the children's mother had just run into the house just before the incident.
The car came to a stop after it rolled into a nearby ditch.
Henryetta Police are still investigating and Norman says once they are done, a report will be turned over to the Okmulgee County district attorney's office for review.
