The Creek County Sheriff's Office says it has made an arrest in connection with the assault of a 4-year-old Creek County girl in her mobile home early Friday morning.
The suspect has been identified as 24-year-old Tommy Braden, the boyfriend of the girl's mother. He is in Creek County Jail and will go before a judge Wednesday.
On Friday morning, Braden was the one who called police to report the rape. He's also the girl's mother's live-in boyfriend.
Deputies say when they arrived at the house; the mother was already at work. Only Braden, the victim and the couple's two-year-old son were home.
The family dog was also found stabbed to death, and investigators also noticed the girl's bedroom window was broken, but authorities are not releasing if it was busted from the inside or out.
"Upon further investigation, it became apparent to us that we didn't believe the story was truthful," said Captain John Davis with the Creek County Sheriff's Office.
When investigators first questioned the girl, they say she was too traumatized to tell them what happened. After she had surgery and the initial shock wore off, deputies say the 4-year-old was able to tell them things that led to suspect Braden.
People who live in the neighborhood where this happened are resting a little easier.
"I have to admit, I didn't sleep very well," Linda Pierce said. "I'm glad that it's over. I still feel bad for the little girl. She's going to have to live with it the rest of her life."
The victim and the 2-year-old child who also lived in the house are with family.
Tommy Braden is expected to go in front of a judge Wednesday morning. Deputies say the maximum sentence for this crime is life in prison.
