A man is dead after a one-vehicle wreck on Interstate-244 at 3:30 a.m. Saturday.

Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers said a 1989 Chevrolet truck driven by Tony Justin Palmer, 35, of Bixby, was eastbound on I-244 in the construction zone near Memorial Road when it went off the roadway and hit a sign and guardrail before overturning.

Palmer was not wearing a seatbelt and was partially ejected with the truck coming to rest on top of him, OHP Trooper Matthew Middleton said at the scene.

"Very important to have [a seatbelt] on," Middleton said. "It possibly could have saved this person's life."

I-244 eastbound was closed for about an hour and a half during the investigation.

There was no sign of alcohol, troopers said.

The cause of the collision is listed as unknown, according to the trooper's report.
