The Tulsa Golden Hurricane, riding a four-game win streak, went to Austin and spit a doubleheader, falling to Texas 9-1 in the first game and topping New Mexico 2-1 in the nightcap.

The first game was dominated by Texas starter Blaire Luna (11-1), who kept the Cowboys offense from finding any rhythm. The junior right-hander pitched a complete, six-inning game, giving up one run on three hits – an unearned run in the top of the first – striking out nine Tulsa batters.

Lacey Middlebrooks (9-3), who is normally solid for the Golden Hurricane, struggled Saturday, giving up three runs in the bottom of the second, and then allowing Texas to nearly bat around the lineup in the sixth. She finished the game after giving up 10 hits and nine earned runs in 5.1 innings of service.

A pitcher dominated the second game as well, but it was a Tulsa slinger winning the late game. Aimee Creger (12-2), pitched a complete seven innings, giving up just three hits and one earned run, striking out 13 batters in the process.

Her only earned run came in the top of the sixth in a scoreless matchup on a Stefanie Carramusa solo home run.

However, Tulsa wouldn't trail for long, with Cassidy Bowen knocking in an RBI single in the bottom half of the inning to tie the game 1-1. The Golden Hurricane finished the game off in the bottom of the seventh. Jill Barrett drew a leadoff walk and Samantha Cobb brought her in with a double to left field to end the game.

Tulsa will be back in action a 6 p.m. Tuesday against Wichita State, before hosting a weekend series against Memphis.
