Richard Roberts' court appearance has been rescheduled to March 7, 2012 on a charge of driving under the influence of alcohol.
Roberts was arrested just after midnight January 24, 2012, on the Creek Turnpike in South Tulsa. An Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper pulled Roberts' 2006 Mercedes for going 93 in a 65 mph zone.
The trooper said that he "immediately detected the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage about Roberts' breath and person."
Roberts failed field sobriety tests, and a breathalyzer test showed an .11 blood alcohol level. The legal limit in Oklahoma is .08 BAC.
Court papers note that Roberts was also given a ticket for speeding. He is scheduled to go to court on that offense February 24.
Roberts is the son of the late Oral Roberts and the Chief Executive Officer of the ministry founded by his father, now called Richard Roberts Ministries. He was once President of Oral Roberts University but left following a wrongful termination lawsuit by an ORU professor that accused Roberts of lavish spending at the expense of the then financially strapped University.
He denied the accusations.
Roberts continues to preach all over the world and hosts a nightly television program.
