TULSA, Oklahoma – It might have taken TU a little while to get going in coach Doug Wojcik's record-setting win on Saturday night, but once it did, there was no doubt.

The Golden Hurricane cruised to an easy 72-48 victory over Houston, making Wojcik the school's all-time winningest coach with 138 victories.

He moved past Clarence Iba on the list, who coached from 1949-60.

Wojcik didn't say anything about the milestone until prompted after the game, but even then said it's a bit of a relief to reach that mark and move past it.

"I think it's been talked about for a while and in some ways, I'm really proud of it, but I want to get it over with and move on and fight for this conference championship," he said. "We're right in the thick of things."

The Cougars actually hung around for some time before the Golden Hurricane was able to make a move and blow the game open.

The teams were knotted at 30 a couple of minutes into the second half, but Tulsa used a 19-2 run to gain some breathing room, and only improved from there.

"You think you're going to have trouble scoring and yet you end up with 72 points," Wojcik said. "We have scored pretty well. We shot 59 percent in the second half and then we did a great job from the line."

Jordan Clarkson had 21 points to lead all scorers in the game, including some big plays to spur the Golden Hurricane's run in the second half.

Steven Idlet added 15 points and nine rebounds off the bench and Scottie Haralson joined them with 13 points.

The win brings Tulsa up to 15-10 (8-3 in Conference USA) while Houston fell to 11-13, 3-8.

Tulsa has a big game coming up against first-place Southern Miss on Wednesday on the road. Tipoff for that game is scheduled for 7 p.m.
