Tulsa Shooting Victim 'Did Not Deserve To Die This Way'

Byron Ivory, Jr., was a man who was getting his life in order. He was the assistant manager for Sherwin-Williams in Claremore and about to go back and get his college degree.

Early Saturday morning he was shot and killed near a downtown nightclub.

"My son did not deserve to die this way. He did everything right," said Sharon Livingston, Ivory's mother.

She is now leaning on the support of her daughter and other family members.

Her son was the light of her life. The two would talk often, with Byron never forgetting to say, 'I love you, Mom.'

"You can't find one person to say anything about him. He's not into drugs. He didn't smoke. He just was a good kid," she said.

A family friend says Ivory was shot outside his car as he and some friends were preparing to enter a night club.

"I've been deprived of grandchildren all because somebody wanted money, a cell phone."

The suspects took off in a late-model silver Ford Fusion with temporary paper tags. Police are still searching for them.

"I want them caught, I want people to call in--that's the only way to stop people like this--call in because anybody could be next," Livingston said.

Livingston now is left with memories of a son of which she couldn't be prouder, a man who was recently baptized and was very strong in his faith.

She says her son is in heaven now and she'll always remember how, no matter how old he got, he loved his family and wanted them to know it.

"I'll take the memory of holding him and hugging him. He was 24, but he still let me hold and hug him."
