Students at Park Elementary got some special recognition for going green.
At a special assembly Monday, the Oklahoma Recycling Association presented teacher Maggie Cooper with a $100 check for the influence she's had on the community.
Cooper started "Green Team Recycling" last year with her first grade class, as a way to educate her kids on the importance of taking care of THE earth.
"They know they are taking care of their future, and taking care of their world and wanting to make it a better place, and they've also influenced their parents to start recycling in their own home," Cooper said.
Last year Mrs. Cooper's class kept more than 13 tons of paper from going to the landfill.
